Abstract

Wonokerto region is the one of economic batik pillar in Pekalongan Regency. The activities of batik process have a positive impact especially for improving the community's economy both through manufacturing and batik, also textile home industries. Meanwhile, its also affect to the health problem for the workers including Muskuloskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Muskuloskeletal Disorders (MSDs) is the one of health problem that batik workers complain about. The process of batik production which is still traditional, manual and continuous activities make the muscles spasm and cause pain in several parts of the body. Moreover, wax and vapors resulting from coloring process will pollute the air and become pollutants in the workplace environment. Pollutans resulting from batik activities will be at risk of impaired lung capacity. Identification of musculoskeletal disorders was obtained from the Nordic Body Map Index examination, the score of the Nordic Body Map Index for workers was obtained from 30 to 73 with an average of 51.40, which means that action may be needed in the future (Wijaya K, 2019). Workers' complaints of pain in several parts of the body which are caused by the work process may occurs by of the lack of understanding of batik workers about the impact of exposure to night steam, health problems related to non-ergonomic body postures and lack of physical activity to support work. Therefore, Universitas Pekalongan through community services team offering solutions to prevent Muskuloskeletal Disorders (MSDs) by doing physical activity counseling and training. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) has choosen to tighten and relax the muscles in a part of the body to reduce and control the health effects experienced by the batik workers. This activity is carried out in an effort to optimize worker productivity and protect the health of batik workers through Physiotherapy and Public Health Knowlage. The result of this activity is that batik workers become more disciplined in carrying out physical activities (stretching) in between their batik work to maintain fitness and there is an increase in productivity by increasing the health status of batik.
